Intro

The therapeutic practice of Steve Friedlander, located in California, is a unique sanctuary for personal transformation and authentic self-expression. Steve, who is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Licensed Addiction Counselor/Educator, and EMDR Therapist, passionately believes that our true identities live beyond our problems. Through a dedicated therapeutic journey, we can embrace our freedom to construct lives that resonate with our personal values. Depression, anxiety, trauma, and other conditions, while challenging, serve as powerful motivators for personal change, ultimately leading us beyond our suffering. Steve’s mission is to esteem, empower and liberate those he works with, guiding individuals towards heightened awareness in a safe, non-judgmental and accepting atmosphere.

Working in collaboration with his clients, Steve integrates a variety of therapeutic techniques to involve the body and nervous system in the healing process. He pays unique attention to how individual's self-perceptions are shaped by language, culture, politics, and societal discourse. Alongside training in Narrative therapy and somatic experiencing, his work incorporates mindfulness, dream work, internal family systems, attachment theory, and Jungian psychology. Steve, who also offers EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), enjoys working with diverse populations, genders, and ages; including couples and adolescents. An adjunct faculty member at Antioch University, Steve teaches classes in Jungian dream interpretation and has facilitated hundreds of ketamine-assisted therapy sessions. Trained in ethical psychedelic-assisted therapy, he provides an inclusive and person-centered approach towards facilitating wholeness and aiding the re-authoring of one's own unique life story.
