Intro

Nestled in Denver, Colorado, Progressive Psychiatry operates under the expert guidance of Board Certified Psychiatrist, Dr. Sara Markey. As a pioneering Ketamine Clinic, the professional team is dedicated to treating a variety of disorders including depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and certain chronic pain conditions. With a wide spectrum of services, such as medication management, pain infusions, psychotherapy, and talk therapy, the emphasis of Progressive Psychiatry on patient-focused care cannot be overstated. The unique infusion therapy technique used by the clinic involves either a single infusion process or a series of infusions based on the individual's needs. They also operate with the flexibility of working alongside a patient’s existing healthcare provider, or leverage their extensive community to build a comprehensive care network. The core objective of Progressive Psychiatry is simple yet powerful; enhancing your quality of life, meeting your wellness objectives, and aiding you towards leading the best possible life. They've recently expanded their services, as psilocybin therapy was legalized in Colorado in 2023. You can easily get on the waiting list for one of the premier state-approved psilocybin therapies offered in the United States.

On your Ketamine treatment day, basic guidance of Progressive Psychiatry includes a recommendation for regular eating and drinking but avoiding overindulgence. For optimal results, it is advised not to take drugs such as benzodiazepines or prescribed narcotics. However, always ensure to follow your doctor's specific instructions. During the infusion, ketamine may be administered in different forms: intravenous, injection, oral, or nasal. If you opt for IV infusions, the slow administration of ketamine over 40 to 60 minutes provides comforting and gradual symptom relief. The initial phase of the infusion might not bring about immediate effects, but as the procedure continues, patients often report experiencing a sensation of "lightness" or "floating," which is likened to the lifting of a heavy burden off their shoulders. Patient monitoring throughout the process ensures any discomfort is immediately addressed. Post-infusion, normal senses and cognition are typically restored within 15 minutes. A single infusion's effects can last for up to two weeks while, as noted by Progressive Psychiatry experts, a series of six infusions could help some patients remain symptom-free for several months.
