Embark on your path to a better life with Jill Sumiyasu in sunny California. Transformative and powerful, therapy can be the keystone in achieving emotional health, which forms the base of enriching relationships, fruitful careers, rewarding familial ties, and general wellness. A clear mind can spin the wheel of life in a brighter direction. Such transformation demands commitment, patience, and a gradual change in your thought patterns, daily habits, and actions. The results, though, are worthwhile and enduring. My primary objective as a therapist is to help you uncover your latent potential and guide you towards a life that you would celebrate heartily. While we cannot rewind and alter the past, we can join forces to understand and overcome the lingering challenges that your personal history may have left you with. My approach is tailored to suit your specific needs, helping to unravel and tackle deep-rooted emotional hurdles, behavioral imprints, and perceptions that obstruct your path to a fulfilling and meaningful life. Whether you are seeking support and guidance through tough times, or are ready to embark on a fresh journey, I'm here to assist you in realizing your goals. My mental health counseling services are conveniently located in the vibrant heart of Old Town Pasadena.
As a Pepperdine University-trained psychotherapist, I view therapy as a dynamic process, sculpted particularly for the individual. My methodology emphasizes blending practical strategies with meticulous, focused exploration of past experiences, such as your family background and any traumatic events, and key contextual aspects. These might include your love life, work, social interactions, and even larger sociopolitical systems intertwined with your emotional challenges. While most individuals seek therapy because of significant challenges affecting their life, my approach prioritizes identifying and bolstering their strong aspects. This style of working collaboratively is crucial for bringing out deep-rooted and lasting change. My belief is that successful therapy stems from a healthy, cooperative partnership between the therapist and the patient – a partnership that acknowledges the patient’s intrinsic reality while mutually sculpting a fresh, more fulfilling reality. I offer therapy sessions for individuals and couples, with a 45-minute session costing $185 and a 60-minute couples session charged at $225. For those experiencing financial difficulty, I provide a limited number of lower-cost sessions in my practice following a sliding scale fee structure. Should you find the cost burdensome, I encourage you to connect with me to discuss a suitable arrangement or alternative referrals. Although I am an ‘out-of-network provider’, your health insurance or employee benefit plan might reimburse you for some or all of the session fees. In such scenarios, you can submit the receipts (termed ‘super bills’) that I provide at every appointment for reimbursement.
