Intro

Welcome to the practice of Greg Mendoza, a dedicated integrative psychotherapist and clinical social worker operating in New York. As a practitioner with a diverse training background, Greg employs several evidence-based approaches such as psychodynamic therapy, experiential dynamic therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy to aid individuals throughout their life journey. His passion lies in unraveling their confusion, enhancing their emotional range, and guiding them towards discovering what truly inspires joy and excitement in their lives. Being a staunch collaborator, his treatment approach remains dynamic, adapting to the evolving needs of those he works with. Greg’s emphasis on social justice led him to choose Social Work, a field that allows him to actively affirm his sensitivity towards LGBTQIA+, espouse sex positivity, and navigate complex traumas.

In addition to being a therapist, Greg has held significant leadership roles in diverse settings, ranging from community-based organizations, schools, and hospitals. As the Senior Social Worker in the Department of Psychiatry at Lenox Hill Hospital, he oversees the clinical staff and trainees. He heads the Social Work Training program at the Outpatient Center for Mental Health of Lenox Hill Hospital, mentoring several cohorts of social work students. Coupling his passion for education and his role in academia, Greg has held academic positions at prestigious institutions such as NYU, Hunter College, and Columbia University. Pioneering innovative approaches to mental health care, Greg co-founded Lenox Hill Hospital's Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy program, a trailblazing initiative projected to launch in mid-2024. His dedication extends to making psychotherapy accessible by providing a 'superbill' that could enable reimbursement of fees from insurance carriers. In Greg’s practice, therapy is more than a service, it's an opportunity for personal growth, fostering healthier relationships, and imbuing one's life with purpose and clarity.
