Intro

Welcome to the practice of Anya Ravitz; an innovative place of transformation in Illinois. The heart of this practice is an embracing LGBTQ-friendly, person-centered counseling, specializing in autism-affirming virtual therapy. As a beacon of hope and understanding, this practice holds a steadfast belief in the ability of every individual in recognizing their true identity, values, and aspirations. It's a place erupting with curiosity and unwavering support, examining every avenue as we journey with you towards self-discovery. Providing a platform for clients to navigate and realize their authentic selves is of top priority. While specializing in therapy for autistic adults, trauma, depression, and anxiety, the practice is equipped to manage a variety of mental health symptoms and diagnoses. The unique intersection of autism and mental health symptoms related to trauma, depression, and anxiety are deeply understood, thanks to the founder's personal experiences as a queer and autistic person.

The approach here is to view autism as a natural neurological variation, with no pursuit for a cure. The objective is to focus on therapies that alleviate symptoms of trauma, burnout, depression, and anxiety, while fostering an internal sense of safety - the core principle of our practice. Therapy methods implemented include somatic therapy and harm reduction, alongside partnerships with ketamine infusion providers and your wider care team for a comprehensive approach to mental health. The impetus behind the inception of Anya's counseling journey was the healing power of active listening, as witnessed during her tenure as a storytelling artist-in-residence. She helped residents, even the most hesitant ones, to share their stories of trauma and mental health crises, instilling in her the passion to aid others in navigating their inner worlds and crystallizing their identity. Today, her practice stands robust, with therapy centered on harm reduction, trauma-informed practices and, echoing her storytelling venture, aiding clients in rewriting their life stories to arrive at a coherent sense of self-worth. Outside her practice, Anya participates in ultramarathons, explores the depths of queer studies, and enjoys delving into the world of autism and neurodivergence.
