Dr. Allan Ajaya, based in Wisconsin, is an accomplished psychotherapist who brings a unique blend of Western psychological wisdom and Eastern spiritual tradition to his practice. Having achieved his PhD from the globally renowned University of California, Berkeley, he further honed his expertise during a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Wisconsin. Early in his career, Dr. Ajaya was drawn to the transformative potential of psychedelic experiences, recognizing its potential to expand consciousness. Over time, he discovered spiritual practices as a more enduring approach to achieving this enlightened awareness. His journey included learning from eastern spiritual luminaries like Chogyam Trungpa, Swami Satchidananda, and Swami Rama. His spiritual journey even led him to the holy city of Rishikesh in India, where he was initiated as a Swami. Across two decades, Dr. Ajaya regularly returned to India for further study, teaching opportunities, and to deepen his own spiritual practice.
While maintaining a home base in US, Dr. Ajaya developed a private practice in New York City, offering psychotherapy supplemented by his knowledge of meditation and yoga psychology. His educational contributions also extend to his authoring, compiling, and editing of several acclaimed books such as Psychotherapy East and West, and Living with the Himalayan Masters. His extensive studies and collaborations with trailblazers in experiential therapy and self-inquiry such as Carl Whitaker, Arnold Mindell, and David Grove have been pivotal in shaping his exceptional approach to psychotherapy. Currently, based in Madison, Wisconsin, Dr. Ajaya offers spiritually enriched psychotherapy, guidance in meditation, and self-inquiry sessions. His objective is to guide individuals in discovering their true essence, stepping beyond the confines of their personal identities. Alongside this, Dr. Ajaya also serves as a mentor to professionals stepping into the realm of psychedelic therapy, exemplifying how entheogens, psychotherapy, and self-inquiry converge to open us to the intelligence permeating throughout existence. For clients unable to attend in-person sessions, cutting-edge video consultation services are available. Dr. Allan Ajaya's practice bridges the gap between spirituality and psychotherapy, unearthing newfound paths of self-discovery and healing.
